ResMed AirFit F10 Full Face Mask
Let’s start with the original product that made the AirFit series a beloved full face mask line: the AirFit F10. Introduced in 2014, it’s the first mask in the AirFit F Series and boasts all the benefits of a quality full face mask, packed in one compact system.
But is the F10 still worth the purchase after almost a decade since its release?
Seal
Featuring the Spring Air cushion, this AirFit mask provides a secure seal without sacrificing comfort. The cushion has a dual-wall design: the inner wall adapts to your facial contours, while the outer adds support. It also inflates as you breathe, allowing it to distribute the pressure evenly.
Comfort
With a silicone spring frame and no forehead support, the AirFit F10 sports a slim and lightweight profile, offering a clear line of sight. The mask’s SoftEdge headgear is made of breathable rolled-edge fabric, which is gentle on your skin and leaves virtually no strap marks. The package also includes frame sleeves for added comfort.
The elbow connector swivels to prevent your CPAP tube from tangling. Surrounding the connector are circular venting ports, designed to quietly diffuse air away for peaceful nights.
Ease of Use
With a simple four-part design, the ResMed F10 assembles and disassembles effortlessly. For a better fit, the headgear comes with four adjustable Velcro straps.
There’s no need to readjust the headgear straps whenever you get up at night. Simply press the quick-release buttons on either side of the elbow to disconnect the mask from your CPAP hose. Then, slide off one or both of the lower looped ends of the headgear straps from the frame hooks.
Sizes Available
- Headgear: S, Standard, L
- Frame: XS/S (fits XS and S cushions), M/L (fits M and L cushions)
- Cushion: XS, S, M, L
- For Her Version Available? Yes, with a different headgear
Who is the AirFit F10 Best For?
While the AirFit F10 lacks the improvements of the newer ResMed full face masks, its frame-headgear attachment is nonmagnetic. That means the F10 is ideal for users with active medical implants (e.g. ICDs, cochlear implants, and pacemakers) who want to give the AirFit masks a try.
ResMed AirFit/AirTouch F20 Full Face Mask
In 2016, ResMed expanded its line of AirFit masks and introduced the AirFit F20. It incorporated all the innovations one would expect from ResMed, features that CPAP users still appreciate today. One of these standout features is the InfinitySeal silicone cushion.
The following year, ResMed released the AirTouch F20. It has the same mask components as the AirFit F20, but distinguishes itself with its unique cushion seal: the UltraSoft memory foam.
That’s what makes the F20 stand out in ResMed’s AirFit line–at the time of publishing, it’s the only mask that’s compatible with both silicone and foam cushions.
AirFit Seal
No matter your pressure setting, the AirFit InfinitySeal cushion is engineered to stay in place, preventing leaks and giving you more restful nights. Its silicone seal curves inwards and adapts to various face shapes. As it gently hugs your nose bridge, it won’t leave red marks on your skin.
AirTouch Seal
For those with sensitive skin, the AirTouch F20 is a great option. Its soft memory foam cushion is breathable, gentle on the skin and offers a secure fit.
Besides being softer than silicone cushions, the AirTouch F20 cushion is easier to clean. It doesn’t need to be washed —you only need to wipe it clean after each use with non-alcoholic mask cleaning wipes. But unlike the AirFit F20 cushion, which follows the standard three-month replacement schedule, the AirTouch cushion should be replaced monthly for the best seal.
Comfort
Like the F10, the AirFit F20 has no forehead support, allowing for an unobstructed view. It also has a plush headgear with rolled-edge fabric, an elbow that swivels, and the QuietAir diffuser vent, which reduces airflow noise to only 21 decibels (as quiet as a soft whisper).
What makes the F20 different from the F10, however, is that it does not include frame sleeves. Its light, flexible frame is already lined with soft fabric so you don’t have to worry about the mask leaving marks on your face.
Ease of Use
Maintaining the F10 elbow’s quick-release mechanism, the AirFit F20 lets you easily detach your tube from the mask. It also has four Velcro straps on the headgear for an easy, custom fit.
But the F20 did away with the F10’s frame hooks, which require a bit of fumbling to attach the headgear. Instead, the mask comes with magnetic clips, giving you an effortless way to detach and reattach the headgear to the frame.
Sizes Available
- Headgear: S, Standard, L
- Frame: S, M, L (each size fits all cushion sizes)
- Cushion: S, M, L
- For Her Version Available? Yes, with a different frame system (S and M) and headgear (S), for the AirTouch F20 and AirFit F20.
Who is the AirFit F20 Best For?
Excluding users with metallic medical implants, the AirFit F20 is a great choice for back or side sleepers. The AirTouch F20 memory foam cushion is also a good option for those with silicone allergies and sensitive skin.
ResMed AirFit F30 Full Face Mask
In 2018, a year after the AirTouch F20 was released, ResMed launched the next-generation AirFit F Series mask: the AirFit F30. Among all the improvements of this new AirFit mask, the feature that stood out the most is the brand’s first-ever minimal-contact full face cushion.
Seal
No more red marks on your nose bridge with the AirFit F30’s UltraCompact silicone cushion. Since it fits snugly under your nose and over your mouth, it offers a more open field of vision than its predecessors. This low-profile and lightweight design feels less claustrophobic and even lets you wear your glasses with the mask on.
Comfort
On top of the F30’s under-the-nose cushion, the mask has no forehead support, further reducing that uncomfortable feeling of being shut in. Another beloved AirFit feature that the F30 retains is its rotating elbow, equipped with QuietAir technology for whisper-quiet exhalation. It also has a soft fabric headgear for stability and comfort.
Ease of Use
With five Velcro straps, the AirFit F30 headgear has more points of adjustment than the F10 and F20. Not only does it offer a more personalized fit–it also means that the headgear is conveniently one-size-fits-all. The frame also comes in only one size and fits all cushion sizes, eliminating the need to purchase additional components just to get the right fit.
Like the AirFit F20, the F30 comes with magnetic clips for easy headgear detachment, as well as a quick-release elbow, letting you get up at night without removing your mask.

Who is the AirFit F30 Best For?
If you wear glasses and like to read or watch TV in bed, the AirFit F30 is the perfect mask for you. Because of its minimalist design, it’s also ideal for those who feel claustrophobic or experience pain on their nose bridge when using traditional full face masks.
ResMed AirFit F30i Full Face Mask
2019 brought on a lasting impact around the globe. But along the pandemic crisis came tons of brand innovations that are here to stay. One of these is the AirFit F30i, ResMed’s first full face mask with a top-of-the-head tubing connection. And as the name suggests, it’s a huge upgrade to the AirFit F30.
Seal
Like the minimal-contact cushion of the AirFit F30, the F30i UltraCompact cushion sits comfortably under your nose and above your chin. Unlike traditional full face cushions that cover both the nose and mouth, it frees up your face for glasses and doesn’t exert pressure on your nose bridge.
Comfort
Traditional CPAP masks typically have a tube connection in front of the face. But with the AirFit F30i, the tubing connection is conveniently placed at the top of the frame. This design can keep you from accidentally dragging your tube and pulling your mask out of place, even as you toss and turn in your sleep.
To accommodate this top-of-the-head connection, the F30i frame is made of soft hollow silicone, allowing airflow to travel from the rotating elbow above your head to the cushion in front. For an accordion-style fit and added stability, the top of the flexible conduit frame has a ribbed design, which shrinks or stretches depending on your head size.
Ease of Use
Like the F30 and F20, connecting the AirFit F30i headgear to the frame involves simply snapping the magnetic clips into place. Its elbow also has quick-release side buttons, so you can easily remove the tube from the top of the frame. And to securely fit all head sizes, the fabric headgear comes with four adjustable Velcro straps.
Sizes Available
- Headgear: One-size-fits-all
- Frame: S, Standard, L
- Cushion: S, M, Small-Wide, Wide

Who is the AirFit F30i Best For?
Since it has the same type of cushion as the F30, the AirFit F30i is ideal for users who like to wear glasses in bed. It’s also a great choice if you find traditional full face cushions claustrophobic or uncomfortable on the nose bridge.
Besides that, the F30i’s top-of-the-head tube connection makes it the best AirFit mask for active sleepers. Whether you sleep on your side, back, or even stomach, you won’t have to worry about the tube getting in your way.
ResMed AirFit F40 Full Face Mask
More than 5 years after the debut of the innovative tube-up AirFit F30i, ResMed releases its smallest tube-down full face mask — the AirFit F40. Like the F30i, the F40 features a minimalist under-the-nose cushion, but it uses a traditional front-of-the-face connection to optimize mask seal.
The AirFit F40 may resemble the F30 full face mask at first glance, but a closer look reveals many design improvements that make the F40 a more comfortable choice.
Seal
Gone is the plastic backing that’s found in all previous ResMed AirFit full face mask cushions. Instead, the AirFit F40 features a 100% silicone AdaptiSeal™ cushion that is completely pliable in your hands. This design allows the cushion to truly conform to the shape of your face for both high seal performance and comfort.
Comfort
With a padded and fully flexible low-profile frame and soft, 4-point adjustable headgear, the AirFit F40 ensures a secure and comfortable fit. Best of all, it features a flexible short tubing at the hose end of the quick-release elbow so you can sleep comfortably in any position. The F40 is the only ResMed full face CPAP mask with a short tubing.
Another popular feature that the AirFit F40 retains is the QuietAir vent, with a minor change. Instead of being located in the quick-release elbow, the QuietAir vent is now a removable ring that can be popped out of the cushion for easy cleaning.
Ease of Use
Like all other AirFit models since the F10, the AirFit F40 comes with snap on/off magnetic headgear clips to make your life easier. And in keeping with the design of the AirFit series, the F40 also features a quick-release elbow for easy connection/disconnection to your machine.

The Verdict
ResMed’s commitment to quality and comfort has set the standard for CPAP masks. So it’s no wonder that all of the AirFit full face masks come with the right features for a smooth sleep therapy experience.
Their quick-release elbows make tube detachment trouble-free, while the absence of forehead supports allows for an unobstructed field of vision. Their lightweight and whisper-quiet designs make them all comfortable to wear. And best of all, they all cost around the same price.
So which is the best ResMed full face mask for you?
If you have a pacemaker or other metal medical implants, the original AirFit F10 is your best choice. It’s the only ResMed full face mask that doesn’t have magnetic clips in the headgear. Those with sensitive skin might prefer the F20, which can be used with a memory foam cushion. If you’re not a fan of choosing from various sizes, you’ll want the F30, along with its one-size-fits-all frame and headgear and two under-the-nose cushion size options.
Stomach sleepers will definitely want to choose the tube-up AirFit F30i. And if you’re new to CPAP therapy or looking for a lightweight full face mask with a good seal at high pressures, ResMed’s AirFit F40 is arguably the best choice. The F40 mask ticks all the boxes: it’s compact, lets you wear glasses, works for side-sleeping, is easy to fit and seals well at higher pressures.
